Beaches, Bridges, and Beauty in Skjervøy

Waning Crescent (New Moon tonight)
Clear 55º (Northern Lights tonight?) 

6:49 am. Moved my altar into the spare room. Can’t get comfortable with incense around the chinchillas, plus the smoke detector needs a battery and I can’t bear to be in there with the beeping. 

Yesterday was amazing! So many beautiful photos! 

I set my destination as the bridge to the next island with a vague idea of walking across. I decided not to cross as it’s long, scary, and just one lane. AND I want to first explore Skjervøy, before moving on to other islands. I did have the idea to rent a bike. A cursory search was too expensive, but I’ll look further. I love walking, but I can see more, faster on a bike and I would feel totally safe riding here. There are paths everywhere for walking and biking. 

I found my way to an incredibly beautiful beach with moss covered paths and a vast variety of plants and flowers. The beach has sand but is mostly smooth rocks in all shades from pure white to blackest black, with some pink and orange sprinkled in. 

The pictures will tell the tale so much better than I can. 

I found an amazing app that charts your course and saves it for future use. I also use Google maps, but it doesn’t know the secret shortcuts and trails so I basically just make sure I’m headed in the right direction. So much fun! I spent about 3 hours exploring and it was magical. 

I haven’t seen any animals except dogs and cats, and plenty of birds. I found a beautiful white feather to add to my collection. 

The sand, stones and seashells I collected made a beautiful addition to my altar and a place to safely burn incense. Just lovely. 

I plan to collect more things, driftwood, fossils, more stones and shells to add to this special space. 

Tonight is the New Moon Ceremony. I chose the time in a fit of optimism while I was still in Vienna and am having it at 11:00. I would so love to be in the Northern Lights for this. We’ll see. 

Off to care for Frøya and a trip to the store. 

I’ll scout further this afternoon for a good spot for tonight. My channeled message suggested down by the lake…
