9:18 am. Woke at 4 something but went back to sleep, thank goodness, until almost 7.
I missed my connection in Oslo but the Milan to Oslo delay was covered by insurance so the change only cost me some time in the Oslo airport. I went outside for a little while and walked around, enjoying the new look of Norway. Cool and sunny! Beautiful day!
After the race to try to make the connection (I almost did) the rest of the trip was uneventful, just long. I’ve learned to sleep sitting up and now prefer aisle seats. I feel trapped in a window seat. So I caught a little rest and got to my Airbnb just fine. Taxi ride was $40 essentially…. Spent a ton on a burger, fries and beer at the airport.. Norway is not cheap so far. Had a little time to work and read Wuthering Heights.
The sky was amazing when I arrived in Tromso so I snapped a photo of that.
There wasn’t coffee, so I took a walk to the nearby grocery first thing, and oh my goodness, is it beautiful here! I’m not sure if that ruin in the water is an old boat or a whale skeleton. It’s a great day when your see beauty on the way to get groceries. It was very interesting that I was able to figure out what to buy and how to check out when I don’t know a single word of Norwegian. I want to learn some, so I’ll invest some time in that also. Happy times!
I have an extra day here because the weather will be too bad for the ferry tomorrow. Maybe also the next day so I may have to take a bus instead. We’ll see.
Going exploring and shopping in Tromso for things not available in the tiny village of Skjervoy, like supplements and avocado oil. It’s very windy out but not yet raining. I hope I have warm enough clothing… I’ll layer up. I bought a 24-hour bus pass that starts at noon. I guess I may need to buy another tomorrow? I’ll see what I see today. I may just need one ticket to the walkable part of the city and back. Lots to figure out in a new place.
I’ve decided to quit vaping as it’s illegal to sell liquid nicotine here. I was told during my ayahuasca ceremony in Costa Rica that I would know when it was time to quit. That it would be obvious and easy. The time is now, the Universe has spoken.
I’m also going to figure out a way to develop upper body ( specifically shoulder) strength so I can lift my bag over my head! Lol! I want to be able to put it in the overhead bin all by myself with ease. It’s fun to have a specific outcome in mind, and it's motivating. I think it only weighs about 25 lbs, so it should be a reachable goal.
