Is It Weird to Wish for an Illness?

Hoping for a diagnosis to make sense of a long-dreaded surgery, ahead of removing breast implants in November. On managing fear by imagining what’s on the other side, and meditating from rural Tennessee and Mexico.

That’s kind of what I’m doing

There’s this thing called Breast Implant Illness, BII, and I’m hoping I have it. The symptoms are thinning hair, rashy skin, low energy, trouble losing weight, brain fog and joint pain, to name a few. I don’t really have any of these symptoms to speak of and they’re also the symptoms of a lot of other things, like being 61, but I still kind of hope I have it.

Because in November when my implants are removed I’ll be super woman! Thick hair, genius brain function, off the charts energy and the agility of a child!

Much of this is creating something to want and look forward to, to help me manage the dread of the actual surgery. It will be so much worse than getting the implants in the first place. I’ve been thinking about this for years. I just wish I had thought this much before I got them, but I guess that’s the nature of being 29 and in love with a shallow man who valued youth and beauty above all else.

I won’t be able to do my moving meditation for a few weeks during recovery, so I’m grateful I still know how to do a sitting meditation. Our live meditations in November and part of December will be in Mexico!

Our next MoonMagic Meditation this Saturday on the Full Moon will be good for moving or being still, whichever you wish.

I’ll be coming to you from Bell Buckle, TN where I’m staying with family for a few weeks. Actually I’m staying with their fur babies while they go cruising, but we get to visit before and after. We may be outside with trees, grass and the full moon for our live meditation, so my friends abroad can get a glimpse of rural Tennessee. We’ll hope for clear skies.

Here’s the link to join this Saturday at 6PM Central US time, and the link to connect to the calendar, which will show your time zone.

With love from wherever I am,
    Lauren
