5:18 am. Yesterday morning was quite interesting. The bus schedule confused me terribly again so I wound up walking a lot. This was great because at one point, almost to the “mall area,” I got to walk through a forest and found a stone circle! It was in the middle of the woods and not official in any way, but they were big stones, and they were in a circle. And they felt magical to me. These are about the only photos I took that morning, because my destination could have been any commercial area in any big city in any country. Except for the names, of course. My inner photographer was not inspired.
I did meet a very friendly cat along the way who reminded me a lot of Bacchus. Bold and brave and the king of his domain.
I was on a quest for special food for Momo, the sweet cat in my care, and the giant, has-everything-mostly-organic-high quality, specialty pet store was here. In the US, this was the kind of area where Sam’s, Walmart, BestBuy, PetSmart and all the other big retailers would be clustered. I found her food and the special supplements I was in search of (spirulina and magnesium) and got my butt back home. That took all morning,
I piddled away the rest of the day reading, watching Disney and making homemade potato chips in coconut oil.
I had some great thoughts along the way about “choosing” to eat less to shed the weight I gained in Ireland and the UK. (I developed a love affair with sourdough toast with butter and honey). I wrote a whole story about remembering to say “choose to” instead of “have to”. Here’s a free link to that story.
I make it a point not to fret about my weight, but My clothes are a little tight and I would like to feel lighter.
Also still mulling over how addicted the masses are to media. My request for good news stories got only more complaints about how terrible Trump is. We’ve got to change our focus people.
I also patted myself on the back for my mastery of “loving the journey”. It’s easier for me, I know, because I don’t have a schedule, except the one I make for myself. But I can always choose the scenic route, I can always choose the road less traveled, I always find things to enjoy along the way. It’s a great life skill!
I’ve discovered a village that still feels authentic and not resort-like, with mountain hikes, waterfalls, and more beauty. It will take about 2 hours to get there by train, so I’ll go tomorrow and see some nature.
